GRUMMAN F9F PANTHER & COUGAR

$9.95

Titles: Grumman F9F Panther & Cougar  No’s 1 to 3

First flown in 1947 the F9F Panther was the first jet fighter for Grumman, and the second for the US Navy. The Panther saw extensive service in the Korean war and scored the first US Navy air kill. After fears about the aircraft performance compared to the MIG opponents, a swept-wing version was quickly developed. The US Navy considered this a variant and it retained the F9F designation but was called the Cougar.

The swept-wing variant proved easier to land on aircraft carriers but remained stubbornly subsonic. Over 1300 examples of all variants were produced. The only export customer was Argentina.

We offer three titles for the F9F series, one for the straight winged Panther variants and two for the swept wing Cougar variants. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
