Titles: Lockheed PV Ventura No’s 1 and 2

The Lockheed Ventura was developed from the Lockheed Lodestar transport as a replacement for the Lockheed Hudson in RAF service. Initially used for bombing they proved unsuitable for that role and were replaced by the Mosquito, the Ventura being transferred to Coastal Command for patrol duties. A version of the Ventura was used by the US Navy as the PV-1 and by the USAAF as the B-34. The PV-2 was a major re-design of the PV-1 including a larger wing and heavier payload. Unfortunately a problem with wing wrinkling required a re-design which delayed entry into service. Although popular with operators all outstanding orders were cancelled at WW2’s end and the type was largely retired shortly after.

The first title includes the Flight and Maintenance manuals for the PV-1 variant and the second title includes three flight manuals for US Navy and USAAF variants of the Ventura. The flight manuals have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.

  • US Navy Pilot’s Handbook for the PV-2, PV-2C, PV-2D, AN 01-55ED-1 dated 1-12-45 revised to 15-4-46, with approx 130 8ages.
  • USAAF Pilot’s Flight Operating Instructions for the RB-34, Ventura IV, AN 01-55EA-1 AP2001D dated 1-1-43 revised to 5-4-43, with approx 63 pages.
  • Pilot’s Notes for the Vega Model 37 Ventura I (s/n 4001 – 4188). produced by Vega Aircraft Corporation for the USAAF Ferry Command, undated with approx 116  pages.
