Title: Macchi C.200 Saetta
The Macchi C.200 Saetta (Lightning) was one of the first modern monoplane fighter aircraft produced for the WW2 Italian Air Force and first flew in 1937. It was a good handling aircraft but somewhat under-powered and under-armed compared to its contemporaries.
The prototype first flew in December 1937 and entered service in 1939. Approximately 1,153 were built and it saw widespread service during WW2 including in Russian service. Its radial engine and robust construction saw it used extensively as a ground attack aircraft.
