Title: Boeing XF8B-1

The XF8B-1 was developed during WW2 by Boeing as a long-range multi-role fighter intended for operation from aircraft carriers stationed outside the range of Japanese home-based fighters. It was at the time the largest and heaviest single-seat single-engine fighter developed in the US and first flew in November 1944.

However changing wartime strategy meant that Boeing concentrated on large land-based bombers and transports. Development continued into 1946 but the end of the Pacific war along with the advent of jet fighters, meant the end of the program and only three examples were built, all of which were scrapped by 1950.

This title contains the manufacturer’s preliminary and final pilot’s manuals for the Boeing XF8B-1 along with a collection of 63 photos of the XF8B-1. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
