Title: Yakovlev YAK-40

The YAK-40 was designed to replace aircraft like the Li-2 (Russian built DC-3), IL-12 and IL-14, and Antonov AN-2 in Russian regional service. Consequently the emphasis was on simplicity, reliability and ability to operate from unpaved airstrips. The prototype first flew in 1966 and was a simple slow aircraft using low-powered engines especially designed for the aircraft. Initially it was not even fitted with thrust reversers.

The aircraft was in production until 1981 and just over 1,000 examples were produced. The Russians undertook major marketing campaigns to sell the aircraft worldwide, but in spite of offering Western avionics and actually achieving certification in several European countries, little success was obtained.

This title contains Flight Manuals in English and Russian for the YAK-40, along with two nice Aviaexport produced brochures.
