Title: Blackburn Firebrand

The Blackburn Firebrand was a WW2 single-engined fighter originally designed using the Napier Sabre engine and first flew in 1942. Disappointing performance and problems with production of the engine lead to it being re-designed as a strike fighter using the Bristol Centaurus engine. It first flew in this form in 1943 as the TF.III.

Development problems with the TF.III related to engine torque and insufficient rudder control lead to the TF.IV which was the first version placed into production. The final version was the TF.V which featured aerodynamic improvements and most aircraft were converted to this model. The aircraft was not a success and all examples were retired by 1953.

This title includes two flight manuals (titled Pilot’s Notes) for the Firebrand TF.V plus reprinted magasine technical articles on the Firebrand IV. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
