BRISTOL 170 FREIGHTER

$9.95

Titles: Bristol 170 Freighter No’s 1 to 3

The Bristol 170 Freighter was designed near the end of WW2 to meet RAF requirements, including the ability to transport a standard 3 ton truck. In the event the end of the war meant the requirement was no longer needed and the RAF never ordered the aircraft. A pure passenger version known as the Wayfarer was available as well as freight versions and convertible versions. However the type never achieved significant sales and only 214 had been built when production ended in 1958.

They were used by several air forces including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan etc. A large fleet was used for many years by Safe Air of New Zealand to carry cargo between the two main islands. The aircraft was affectionately referred to as “40,000 rivets flying in loose formation”.

We offer three titles for the Bristol Freighter series. The first title includes flight manuals for civil variants of the original Mks 21 and 31plus two manufacturer’s brochures. The second title covers flight manuals for military operators from Australasia plus two nice manufacturer’s brochures. The third title includes the flight and maintenance manuals for the later longer nosed Mk 32 plus another nice manufacturer’s brochure. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages. Each title is US$9.95.
