LAKE BUCCANEER (COLONIAL SKIMMER)

$9.95

Title:  Lake LA-4 Buccaneer (Colonial Skimmer)

The Lake Buccaneer was designed by David Thurston (an engineer at Grumman at the time) who established the Colonial Aircraft Corp in 1946 at Sanford, Maine to build his design, initially called the Colonial Skimmer. 43 examples were built in two versions, the C-1 and the higher powered C-2, both two-seat aircraft.

In 1959 the rights to the aircraft were acquired by Lake Aircraft Corp who renamed the aircraft the LA-4 Buccaneer and enlarged it to accommodate 4 persons. Since that time around 1,000 have been built with varying sized engines. The company has been through several changes of ownership although the airframes continued to be built in the original factory at Sanford.

This title contains the owner’s manual for the original Colonial Skimmer and the later Lake Buccaneer along with a nice manufacturer’s brochure on the Buccaneer. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
