Title: Max Holste MH250 MH260 MH350

Following the success of the MH1521 Broussard, Avions Max Holste began the development of a larger successor, a twin-engined high wing aircraft capable of carrying 17 passengers. A prototype was built and first flew in May 1959 using two Pratt & Whitney 600hp R1340 radial engines. The aircraft proved to be under-powered and a turbine engined variant was quickly proposed. The prototype MH260 used 730 hp Turbomeca Bastan III engines, the fuselage was lengthened 1.4m from the MH250 enabling the carriage of up to 23 passengers, and first flew in July 1960.

The French government ordered 10 which were to be operated by the French Aeronavale. Avions Max Holste was unable to complete the order and the project was taken over by Nord Aviation. Only 9 aircraft were completed with the 10th airframe being used for spares, and they used the 960 hp Bastan IV engines. The unpressurised MH260 formed the basis for the later very successful Nord 262.

After the MH260 project passed to Nord Aviation, Avions Max Holste began the development of a true successor to the original Broussard, a similar sized high wing aircraft using two 310 hp Continental GIO-470 engines. The project progressed to a full-sized mock-up but was abandoned when Cessna acquired 49% of the company which then concentrated on building Cessna models under licence.

It is unlikely a flight manual was produced for the MH250 and certainly not for the MH350. One would have been produced for the MH260 but we have been unable to locate one. This Title contains one manufacturer’s brochure on the MH250 Super Broussard, three manufacturer’s brochures on the MH260 Super Broussard, and one manufacturer’s brochure on the MH350 Broussard Major. The files have been scanned from the original documents and retain any colour pages.
