SARO SR/45 PRINCESS

Title: Saro SR/45 Princess

The Princess was the largest flying boat ever built and produced after WW2 to service transatlantic routes. However, by the time it first flew in 1952 the era of flying boats was ending and there was no market for the type. Only three airframes were built and only one flew. There were no manuals produced for the aircraft, just drafts of some sections of the service and repair manuals. We do have five of seven volumes of a fascinating series of reports produced by SARO for the government, giving a chronological history of the technical and commercial aspects of the project.

This title contains five volumes of the official report on the project, referred to in one volume as the “Princess Bible”, originally confidential and containing considerable commercial information as well as much technical information, including many photographs and drawings, along with a nice full colour brochure on the project. The files have been scanned from the original documents and retain any colour pages.
