SIKORSKY H-19 HRS (S-55)

$9.95

Titles: Sikorsky H-19 HRS (S-55) No’s 1 and 2

The design of the S-55 was initiated as a private venture by Sikorsky primarily to test a number of new design concepts, such as the engine placement, offset flapping hinges, hydraulic servo controls, etc. The first customer however was the USAF which ordered a number for initial evaluation. The type was subsequently used extensively by the US Army, where it became the first true transport helicopter, along with the US Navy and Marines.

1,281 were built by Sikorsky with significant numbers exported around the world. In addition, another 447 were manufactured under licence in England, France and Japan. Several private ventures produced turbine conversions of surplus military aircraft but these were not carried out in any number.

We offer two titles containing flight and maintenance manuals for military variants of the Sikorsky S-55. The files have been copied from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages. Each title is US$9.95.
