Title: FFVS J22

The J22 was a single engine fighter developed in Sweden during WW2. At the start of WW2 the Flygvapnet (Swedish Air Force) was equipped with obsolete biplane fighters and it was quickly realised that modern monoplanes were needed. Foreign imports were considered and some interim aircraft were obtained but it was decided to produce a new Swedish fighter. As SAAB were fully committed a new organisation was set up to design and build the new aircraft, the Kungliga Flygförvaltningens Flygverkstad i Stockholm (“Royal Air Administration Aircraft Factory in Stockholm”, FFVS).

The first example flew in 1942 using a copy of the R-1830 Twin Wasp engine, and the last of 198 examples was delivered in 1946. The J22 was popular with pilots and at low altitudes could hold its own against contemporaries. It was also simple to maintain. It was retired from service in 1952.

This title includes the Flygvapnet (Swedish Air Force) flight manual (titled Speciell Forarinstruktion) and descriptive manual (titled Beskrivning) for the FFVS J22. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
