Title: Sikorsky HH-52 Seaguard

The Sikorsky HH-52 (S-62) was the first of Sikorsky’s amphibious helicopters to fly and first flew in 1958. It was initially a commercial venture combining the dynamic components of the S-55 along with a new boat-hull-shaped fuselage and a lightweight turboshaft engine. It underwent evaluation at the Naval Air Test Centre at Sikorsky’s expense in an effort to interest the US Coast Guard.

This was rewarded with a Coast Guard order for 99 aircraft which were primarily based on the larger Coast Guard cutters and icebreakers for air-sea rescue work, and remained in service until 1989. Another 76 examples were built for other military operators and some civil users. Some examples were built under license in Japan by Mitsubishi.

This title contains two USCG Flight Manuals for the HH-52, one early dated and one later dated. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages unless otherwise stated.
